A THEORETICAL REFLECTION ON THE CONTINUING EDUCATION FORTEACHERS OF PHYSICAL EDUCATIONKeywords: Continuing formation , Public politics , Physical Education Abstract: The paper presents one of the issues worked in a research thataimed at studying and understanding the continuing formation of Physical Education teachers working with Elementary Education of the Municipal Schools in Vitória, state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, considering as main point the social imaginary of such teachers. Methodologically assuming a qualitative posture, it was made a documental analysis of the Municipal Plan of Education of Vitória2001/2010, as well as interviews with six Physical Education teachers working in that teaching unit. As result, it shows that a great number of teachers understand that continuing formation has not been worked as a govern politics, but a mandate one. It also points the need of teachers to engage themselves into the continuingformation, not as an individual action, but collective.
