Practice of health education in the perspective of problematization living conditions of a communityKeywords: nursing , public health , health education , family health , consumer participation. Abstract: Objective: to describe and to analyze the reality there observed as well as the health education activities which were carried out in a community situated in the territory covered by a unit of the Family Health city in the south of Brazil. Methodology: it is an experience report sustained and discussed at a literature review. Results: based on the observation of the local reality, initiatives were drawn up in accordance with the community in order to allow that one reflects on the possibilities to improve living conditions in the area. Such processes made it possible to establish contact with other areas of the public sector so that the needs that the local population considered to be top priority could be met. During the whole traineeship, emphasis was placed on respecting the knowledge and the culture of the local citizen and on associating their modus vivendi to the activities there introduced. Conclusion: such initiatives are considered to be positive as they promote critical thinking on the community’s environment and on the possibilities to improve their living. Nevertheless, this process of bringing the public health sector close to other areas showed the difficulties to build actions among different sectors to improve the living conditions in the area.
