Die Liebesphilosophie Dietrich von Hildebrands. Ans tze einer Ontologie der Liebe?

Dieser Essay will die Fragestellung der Liebe in den Vordergrund der philosophischen Forschung rücken; gleichzeitig unternimmt er den Versuch, die ontologischen Kategorien neu zu begründen, und zwar anhand des Ph nomens der Liebe. Hilfestellung hierzu bietet die ph nomenologische Auseinandersetzung Dietrich von Hildebrands mit dem Wesen der Liebe. Ausgangsposition ist die Feststellung, dass die Liebe zwar immer das Interesse der Philosophen geweckt hat, Forschung gemacht worden ist. Hildebrand zeigt, wie komplex und vielf ltig dieses Ph nomen ist und er ffnet durch sein Verst ndnis der Liebe alsWertantwort neueWege, die die Liebe in einen ontologischen Horizont des menschlichen Lebens rücken. Besonders im Dialog mit anderen Denkern, wie u. a. Jean-Luc Marion, rückt eine neue Sicht der Liebe in den Vordergrund, n mlich als ein Prozess des Gebens und Empfangens, der einer Seinsgabe nahe kommt. Allein im Liebesprozess kann die Fülle menschlicher Existenz erfahren werden, allerdings nur insofern sich die Person – zuerst und vor allem – dem absoluten Seinshorizont – Gott schenkt. Abstract This essay is mainly concerned with the discussion of the phenomenon of love within the context of philosophical research. At the same time it is an attempt to give new reasons for the traditional ontological categories with the help of the phenomenon of love. Dietrich von Hildebrandt’s phenomenological discussion of love may prove useful for this analysis. As a point of departure it must be stated that through the ages the theme of love has always aroused the interest of philosophers, but rarely has love become a main topic of their research. Dietrich von Hildebrandt shows the complexity and variety of this phenomenon. By comprehending love as a kind of ‘value response’ he opens up new ways of placing the phenomenon of love within an ontological frame of reference concerning human life. The dialogue with other philosophers, e. g. Jean-Luc Marion, has led to the emphasis on an new aspect of love, namely the idea of love as a process of giving and receiving that comes close to a process of ‘self-donation’ (Seinsgabe). Only in this process of love the full wealth of human existence can be experienced. This, however, is only possible, if – first and foremost – the individual donates himself to an absolute horizon of being – God.
