Abstract:

Traditionally, ameloblastoma is considered as a benign epithelial neoplasm with virtually no tendency to metastasize. It is slow growing, locally invasive and when combined with its clinical behavior, makes it the most significant odontogenic neoplasm of concern. Ameloblastomas are typically differentiated histologically into unicystic intraosseus, multicystic, solid intraosseous (80-90%) or peripheral. Unicystic ameloblastoma (UA) refers to those cystic lesions that show clinical, radiographic or gross features of a jaw cyst but on histological examination show a typical ameloblastomatous epithelial lining part of the cyst cavity, with or without luminal and/or mural tumor growth. In the present case report, a case of mural variant of unicystic ameloblastoma in a young male patient is described with its clinical, radiological, histological features, treatment modalities and review of literature.
