Os Trilhos do Progresso: Inten es de comunica o via estrada de ferro entre Paraná e Mato Grosso na passagem do século XIX ao XX The way of the progres: intentions of comunications through railroad between Paraná and Mato Grosso in passing of the XIX century to XX

O objetivo é analisar alguns projetos de engenheiros, jornalistas e políticos que visavam ligar o Estado do Paraná à Mato Grosso no período cronológico que abrange a segunda metade do século XIX até os anos iniciais do século XX. Especificamente analisar-se-á uma matéria jornalística veiculada em 1903 no jornal O Guarapuavano de autoria do jornalista e militar Luiz Cleve. Na citada reportagem o autor apresenta alguns projetos ferroviários, como por exemplo, dos engenheiros Francisco Tourinho, Beaurepaire Rohan, dos irm os Rebou as, entre outros. A t nica destes projetos, bem como da reportagem de Cleve, foi a necessidade de ligar o extremo-oeste paranaense e Mato Grosso ao Atlantico, numa tentativa de nacionalizar e civilizar essas regi es, na época, consideradas redutos de barbárie e incivilidade. The objective is to analyze a few projects of engineers, journalists and politicians whose intention was to connect the Paraná and Mato Grosso States in the period that corresponds to the second half of the 19th century to the first years of the 20th. It will be, specifically, analyzed a news article presented in 1903 on the newspaper O Guarapuavano of the journalist and military Luiz Cleve′s creation. In the article, the author presents a few railway projects, like for example, the ones of the engineers Francisco Tourinho, Beaurepaire Rohan, the Rebou as brothers, among others. The keynote of these projects, as the Cleve′s text, was the necessity of connecting the extreme-west of Paraná and Mato Grosso to the Atlantic Ocean, wishing to nationalize and civilize these regions, in times, considered full of barbarous and uncivilized happenings/behaviors.
