Inspection of hull technical condition assessment with application of risk-based methods

The general methods of risk assessment and a possible approach to application of these methods for assessment of the technical condition of the hull structure are considered. The examples of the classification of the probability and consequence of hull structural damage are given. To assess the risk of failure or damage of the structural element, an approach based on the results of ultrasonic measurements of residual thickness is offered. Application of the theory of risk allows developing the control program of structural elements, providing additional protective measures and planning the necessary amount of repair.
