Abstract:

The study aims to test the moderating effect of job resources in the relationship between job demands and personal demands, on the one hand, and burnout on the other. The research surveyed 154 employees (65.58% women) from different Romanian organizations. The study was exploratory in its nature and revealed that workaholism, together with job requirements are good predictors of emotional exhaustion. Managerial support has a moderating effect on the relationship between workaholism and emotional exhaustion. In case of depersonalization, interaction hypothesis was insignificant. The results reveal the buffer role of managerial support between personal requests and emotional exhaustion. The value added and knowledge is given by studying workaholism as a personal demand. The practical consequences relate to interventions aimed at organizational, and individual level.
