REGISTROS COLONIAIS DA MORFOLOGIA DO LITORAL DA PARAíBA E SUAS CONFIGURA ES ATUAIS: UMA PROPOSTA INTERDISCIPLINAR DE PESQUISA - DOI: 10.7154/RDG.2011.0022.0003

O objetivo principal do presente trabalho é a proposi o de uma nova abordagem interdisciplinar de pesquisa, através de estudos comparativos entre registros antigos da configura o morfológica do litoral brasileiro, tais como descri es textuais e produtos cartográficos do período colonial, e suas configura es atuais, através da cartografia contemporanea, imagens de satélite e pesquisas de campo. Dentro dessa nova perspectiva de estudo, o artigo procura realizar essa proposta analisando o litoral do atual Estado da Paraíba através de registros dos séculos XVI, XVII e XVIII, indo desde o Tratado Descritivo do Brasil de 1587, de Gabriel Soares de Sousa, passando pela cartografia de Marggraf e Vooght e relatos de Herchmans e Dussen do Período Holandês (1630-1654), até um mapa do final do século XVIII, e comparando-os com elementos cartográficos, imagens orbitais e observa es de campo recentes, buscando perceber as mudan as mais significativas da faixa litoranea numa escala cronológica secular. COLONIAL REGISTRATIONS OF THE MORPHOLOGY OF THE COAST OF PARAíBA AND THEIR CURRENT CONFIGURATIONS: A INTERDISCIPLINARY PROPOSAL OF RESEARCH Abstract: The main objective of the present work is the proposition of a new interdisciplinary approach of research, through comparative studies among old registrations of the morphologic configuration of the Brazilian coast, such as textual descriptions and cartographic products of the colonial period, and their current configurations, through the contemporary cartography, satellite images and field researches. Inside of that new study perspective, the article tries to accomplish that proposal analyzing the coast of the current State of Paraíba through registrations of the centuries XVI, XVII and XVIII, going from the Descriptive Treaty of Brazil 1587, of Gabriel Soares of Sousa, going by the cartography of Marggraf and Vooght and reports of Herchmans and Dussen of the Dutch Period (1630-1654), until a map of the end of the century XVIII, and comparing them with cartographic elements, orbital satellite images and recent field observations, looking for to notice the most significant changes of the coastal strip in a secular chronological scale.
