The metropolitan scale of analysis revisited: notes on the metropolization process Abstract: This paper approaches issues related to interpreting the process of metropolization. It analyses the benefits and drawbacks of acknowledging officially-defined metropolitan boundaries as expressions of spatial and political processes. Both the official trajectory and the integration process of Goiás State's metropolitan space are useful in supporting the debate, revealing the limits and possibilities posed by the concept of metropolitan area.
