A família na trajetória do sistema de prote o social brasileiro: do enfoque difuso à centralidade na política de Assistência Social (The family in the course of the Brazilian social protection system history: from a vague approach to a central position in the Social Welfare policies)

Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é retratar e analisar a presen a da família na trajetória do sistema de prote o social brasileiro seja como sujeito de direitos e/ou como agente de prote o social aos seus membros. Bem como desvendar as contradi es de sua recente ascens o à cena pública e inser o nas a es públicas, na forma de centralidade na política social, em especial na Assistência Social. Abstract: The present paper aims at portraying and analyzing the role of the family in the history of the Brazilian social protection system, both in the light of its rights as a group and/or of its active role in the social protection of its members. It also reveals the contradictions of the recent prominence of the family on the public sphere and its inclusion in the governmental actions, as it assumes a central position in the social policies, and especially in the Social Welfare agenda.
