DEGRADATION OF NITROBENZENE BY ADVANCED OXIDATION PROCESSKeywords: degradation of nitrobenzene , advanced oxidation , nitrobenze , oxygen activation Abstract: The work deals with the degradation of nitrobenzene by advanced catalytic oxidation reagent generated in the system Fe(0)- EDTA-O2- H2O. The obtained results demonstrated that this oxidation process was suitable to degrade nitrobenzene to CO2, H2O and other compounds like low molecular acids. The nitrobenzene degradation was expressed by D= . The effects of initial concentrations of nitrobenzene, EDTA, iron mass and temperature on advanced oxidation process have been studied. In solution of 0.1mM nitrobenzene, 0.1mM EDTA, 10g –iron mass, oxygen from air, the nitrobenzene conversion at 200C to CO2, H2O and others substances achieved 94%. The D conversion of nitrobenzene in the studied system depends on the ratio of EDTA/iron mass. An expression of reaction rate law based on the decrease of COD has been evaluated. By experimental data, the expression of reaction rate law let’s calculate kinetic parameters.
