The aim of this article is to evaluate the efficiency of each Brazilian state concerning thevacancy offer and the demand for higher education courses of their respective federal universities, usingData Envelopment Analysis (DEA). This study evaluates the capacity of the federal universities ofBrazilian states in the converting of the government investments into demand for their courses, regardingthe quantity of available vacancies and the demand for graduation courses of each state This article usesthe non-increasing returns of scale DEA model, output oriented, and its results can be used as referenceto the development of higher education public polices, aiming to improve the performance of theinefficient states and the global efficiency of the whole Brazilian higher education system.
