Contrary to the evolutionary concept of alteration, Castoriadis projects a ‘theory of social indeterminism’ and affronts the problem of historical being through the appearance of novel psychic/imaginary types, which have the ability to cause unexpected alterations during the course of the historical and social phenomena. Nevertheless, possible problems of his ‘history conception’ are also stressed.
