O camponês no olhar sociológico: de fadado ao desaparecimento à alternativa ao capitalismo

This article analyses how the peasant has been seen by the Social Science. On the one hand the peasant was destined to disappear by virtue of Marxist theory because, with the development of capitalism, this social type has become proletarians. On the other hand the contemporary approaches of Sociology visualize the presence of peasantry in the agriculture of developed capitalist societies. Then the comprehension of the place of the peasant in the society ends up being an exercise of theoretical/methodological reflection of Sociology.
