DIFFERENCES IN SOME GENUINE PERSONALITY TRAITS BETWEEN ATHLETES FROM DIFFERENT SPORTS DISCIPLINES AND NOT ATHLETES IN R. MACEDONIA

The survey was conducted on a sample of 383 male athletes from different sports in the Republic of Macedonia (basketball, volleyball, handball, football, wrestling, martial arts, swimming and truck and field) and 371 not athletes. The survey applied a total of sixteen variables or original personality traits according Katel.The results indicated it is not possible to identify a general model of personality successful athlete, however it is possible to identify certain dispositions or group dispositions whose level of expression is characterized by the behavior of the top athletes, thereby significantly determines success in the sport.
