Switching of Picosecond Pulses under Third Order Dispersion Effects in a Non Linear Fiber Coupler

n this paper, we numerically study the propagationand switching of the picosecond pulses undernormal and anomalous dispersion regimes. If astrong optical pulseis given as input to a single coreof two core fiber coupler under anomalousdispersion regime, then as the pulse in one coredecreases its amplitude; correspondingly the pulsein other core increases its amplitude. The powerexchange is possible only when the guides are madeof material with third order optical susceptibility.The non linear susceptibility givesrise to selftrapping of power in the original guide. Hence aftera coupling length the output power changes from0% to 100% in the original guide.
