BIOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF DIFFERENT PARTS OF MULBERRY GENOTYPES

Abstract:

Mulberry leaf exclusively assures the growthand development of the silkworm larvae, beingconsidered a complete value nutrient, so that theknowledge of its nutritional status is of great interest. Thenutritional status of different mulberry varieties isascertained by its biochemical constituents. Mulberry isrich sources of protein, carbohydrate, carotenoids, lipids,ascorbic acid, anthocyanins etc. Hence the currentinvestigation was undertaken to study the biochemicalconstituents in different parts viz, roots, leaves and fruitsof seven mulberry genotypes. The results indicated thatAR-12 mulberry variety have recorded highestbiochemical constituents.
