The purpose of this paper is to present national policies on foreign direct investment regime in Central and Eastern Europe, with a special interest for Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovenia, focusing on several fundamental issues: (1) What are the mechanisms and instruments used to support a policy around FDI? (2) What are the rationales for a policy that is promoted to attract foreign direct investment? (3) What is the impact on FDI?
