WATER QUALITY ANALYSIS OF LOTIC ECOSYSTEMS FROM UPPER MURE RIVER CATCHMENT AREA USING DIFFERENT BIOTIC INDICES

Present paper approach the issue of assessing the water quality of tributaries located in the upper basin of the river Mure , taking into account changes in the value of biotic indices. In this sense, have been selected the next five biotic indices: Ephemeroptera Plecoptera Trichoptera index (EPT), Total Invertebrates index (T), Chironomidae index (Ch), EPT / Total invertebrates index (EPT / T), EPT / Chironomidae index (EPT / Ch) and % Chironomidae index (% Chironomidae). Considering all these indices, it was found existence of a medium to best quality water in Mure tributaries from Harghita Mountains and a good quality water which comes from the Maramure Mountains and Transylvania Plateau.
