Latin as the Language of Terminologia Anatomica: some Remarks on its Role.

Terminology is a common technical language, particularly in the fields of morphology. Over many years, Terminologia Anatomica has been the subject of much controversy and disagreement. At the present time, anatomists adopted Latin as the international language for Terminologia Anatomica. Under this worldwide adoption has been possible eliminate national differences, which were causing extreme confusion in instances where the same structure was known by several names. The present paper offers an up-to-date view of the status of Latin as the language of the anatomical terminology, namely in its terminological component and present a grammatical analysis of the Latin as the language of Terminologia Anatomica. The Terminologia Anatomica is highly recommended not only for teachers, students and researchers of the anatomical field, but also to clinicians, doctors, translators, editors and publishers to be followed in their activities.
