Peirce, la Abducción y la Investigación CientíficaKeywords: Abduction , Rational Instinct , Modes of Inference , Scientific Research , C.S. Peirce , Epistemology , Logic of Scientific Discovery Abstract: In this paper C.S. Peirce’s concept of abduction is explored. To this goal Peirce’s notion of abduction as a mode of inference is articulated to the other two classical modes: induction and deduction. The importance of this concept, as a way to explain the creation of an explicative hypothesis for a certain phenomenon, is shown. That gives to abduction an important role in the search for a model or a theory of scientific research. Finally, Peirce’s proposition of the existence of a “rational instinct” that could give a fundament to his conception of abduction, based in his metaphysical assumptions, is discussed.
