Políticas de la (in) visibilidad: Lectura anacrónica y dialéctica de la controversia bizantina

From the radical dualism of early Gnostic Christians and Byzantine Iconoclasts, theologians have been wary of potentially errant forces operating in artistic figures. To attemp to represent the unrepresentable is to corrupt the divine. Obviously contrary tendencies are also at work in the Christian tradition. In this article I will attempt to create a dialogue between religion and the twentieth-century art to find the possibility of refiguring the polarities and oppositions that structure aesthetic thought.
