Importación de ca ones en el Ferrol del siglo XVIII: fuentes británicas para su estudioKeywords: Commercial relations , Scotland , Ferrol , XVIII century. Abstract: Undoubtedly, in the Eighteenth century Ferrol royal dockyard had become one of the most important dockyards in the world. Its construction, which began by the middle of the century, laid the foundation for the socio-economic transformation of town. It is not difficult to imagine the profound cultural impact of this phenomenon and the significant role played by the naval establishment in the growth of the community. The local economy was dominated by the dockyard and much trade was connected with the demand for naval goods which, in turn, stimulated imports. In 1775 and 1776, commercial relations were established with Scotland as they were vital to meet the Spanish Navy’s requirements for cast iron cannon. Ferrol was the main port for the importation of these artillery pieces which were manufactured by The Carron Iron Works in Scotland.
