La imagen de la madre en el refranero espa ol y jordano. Estudio de Paremiología comparada

Using Spanish and Jordanian proverbs, this paper investigates the role of women in society. Specifically, it analyzes the role and archetypes of the mother in Spanish and Jordanian proverbs in order to identify paremiological similarities and differences between the two cultures that appear to be different. The aim is to define the social imagination for the mother in the context of role transformation and in contrast with the roles of husband, son and brother, in two societies which might be occasionally associated with sexist and /or rural ideologies.
