Low-complexity Histogram Modification Algorithm for Contrast Enhancement

Histogram equalization is widely used in different waysto perform contrast enhancement in images. In this paper, a newHistogram modification algorithm is proposed for contrastenhancement of images. Histogram Equalization (HE) is one of themost popular technique used for digital image enhancement, but itis not suitable to be implemented directly in consumer electronics,such as television, because this method tends to produce an outputwith saturation effect. To overcome this weakness, Low-complexityHistogram Modification Algorithm is proposed that works well withboth video and still images, and it enhances the images withoutmaking any loss in image details.
