Abstract: The hypertension can be considered a major independent factor risk, related to cardiovascular sickness, and classified like a modified factor risk, in spite of the progression in the pharmacology and physiopathology in detection and treatment, the number of cases only rise up. In Brazil, 37% of death cases are direct related with hypertension. It rises up five times the risk of stroke and coronariopathy. The mortality rises up when the pressure is over 115/75 mmHg. The Joint Nation Committee 7 defines resistant hypertension as failure to achieve goal blood pressure when a patient adheres to maximal tolerated doses of 3 antihypertensive drugs including a diuretic.
