Effective Placement and Selection Approaches for Network Services

Network services are provided by means of dedicated service gateways, through which traffic flows are directed service placement problem, which takes into account traffic engineering considerations. Rather than trying to minimize the Length of the traffic flow routes, we take advantage of these routes in order to enhance the overall network performance. Network services are used in the Internet today for a variety of functionality, from Voice Over IP (VoIP) relays to network game servers. Determining the placement of these network services and measuring the qualityof the placement in realistic scenarios is a challengingproblem. This paper explores different methodologies forevaluating the placement of network services.
