Os nomes do outro entre o faxinal e a cidade, Irati (PR), 1960-1970

Departing from the denial of existence in a single and shared sense of place, from which a coherent identify would emerge, in this articlewe seek to understand the formation of different meanings and multipleidentities which often are not respected. We shall emphasize the case of prejudice being suffered by adepts of the Faxinal technique (a traditional manifestation of culture in Brazil in which common pieces of land are used to breed animals) when visiting downtown Irati, Paraná state, Southern Brazil in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Their stay downtown had provoked an identity rupture which, being fixed in time, would offer a certain degree of stability and cohesion for a history which was to develop naturally.
