DEVERES DE INFORMA O E O CUMPRIMENTO PELOS BANCOS PORTUGUESES NO PSI 20 INFORMATION RESPONSIBILITY AND ITS COMPLIANCE BY PORTUGUESE BANKS IN THE PSI 20

A sociedade civil exige às empresas transparência na sua gest o e eficiência nos resultados. às sociedades cotadas, esta exigência passa por um enquadramento legal e regulamentar maior devido à sequência dos recentes escandalos financeiros que colocaram em causa os alicerces da sociedade capitalista contemporanea. Espera-se que as institui es financeiras, enquanto organiza es dinamizadoras da economia, integrem na sua estrutura organizacional órg os de gest o e controlo que possam satisfazer a elevada exigência que sobre estas empresas está a ser exercida. Neste artigo, após o enquadramento legal e regulamentar português, à data de 31/12/2005, apresenta-se uma análise à informa o divulgada pelos três bancos portugueses que integram o índice bolsista PSI 20. No final do estudo recomendamos que se integrem os interesses das várias partes interessadas nos órg os de decis o dos bancos, de modo a contribuírem para uma maior robustez dos diferentes modelos de governo das sociedades no sector bancário. To companies with stakeholders, this requirement goes through a greater legal and regulatory framework due to the several recent financial scandals that brought into question the foundations of the contemporary capitalist society. It is expected that financial institutions, as dynamizing organizations of the economy, integrate to its organizational structure management and controlling functions that can meet the high demands being exercised on these companies. In this article, after the Portuguese legal and regulatory framework, dated of 12/31/2005, is an analysis of information disclosed by the three Portuguese banks participating in the PSI 20 stock index. At the end of the study is recommended to integrate the stakeholder's interest to the banks' decision-making board in order to contribute to greater robustness of the different models of corporate governance in the banking sector.
