Reflexiones sobre la traducción de Makki para el árabe de la novela Do a Bárbara de Rómulo Gallegos Reflections on the Makki Translation into Arabic of the Novel Do a Bárbara by Romulo Gallegos

Se trata de un estudio de los procesos de interpretación del traductor Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ali Makki de la novela “Do a Bárbara” de Rómulo Gallegos. Rastreamos en el texto traducido las intervenciones hermenéuticas del traductor a través del análisis de la elaboración de las equivalencias y las adaptaciones, de los problemas de traducción de los léxicos culturales locales y las técnicas y estrategias para resolver estos problemas. También estudiamos el diálogo intercultural en la traducción a través del análisis de la intertextualidad entre el contexto venezolano de la novela y el contexto egipcio del traductor. El análisis de esta traducción ofrece también una visión general para evaluar los procesos de interpretación del texto y su contexto cultural de los llanos venezolanos y para entender el proceso de arabización de esta novela. This study analyzes the interpretation process of the translator Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Ali Makki of the novel “Do a Bárbara” by Romulo Gallegos. We traces in the translated text the interpretive interventions of the translator by examining the process of the elaboration of equivalences and adaptations, the techniques and the methods to resolve the problems in the translation of cultural local lexis. We study also the cultural dialogue in the translation by reflecting upon the intertextuality between the Venezuelan context of the novel and the context of the Egyptian translator. This analysis of the Arabic translation offers an overview to evaluate the translator interpretation of the text and the cultural context of the Venezuelan plains and to understand the process of arabization of this novel.
