Impact of action of oil in the culture of indigenous peoples of the ecuadorian amazon

Abstract:

This research attempted to reflect on the impacts of shares of oil companies on culture of the Indian population in the Equatorian Amazon. Held in Ecuador in January 2007 with Amazonian Indians - regions of Teena, Archidona y Ahuano - and inhabitants of the cities of Quito and Cuenca, it was characterized in a field investigation of descriptive and exploratory qualitative approach whose instruments was participant observation and opened individual interviews. The results showed that companies use various strategies to alter the process of living place and establish the supremacy through social demobilization, reflecting thus the culture of these people and hence in the social production of health. The research has shown that the action of oil industry represents a practice consistent with maintaining the neoliberal hegemonic modelfocused on the reproduction of capital.
