Theatre and Mental Health: experiences of Day Hospital users

The objective of this article is to describe the experience of a Theatre Group (TG) in a mental health service from the perspective of the participants. The study used a qualitative approach with semi-hospitalized psychiatric patients who participated in a weekly group based on improvisational theater games. This activity was valuable in enabling the development of healthy repertoires that are usually behind pathological descriptions and behavior. It also created a space for the empowerment and development of individual and relational resources, allowing users from a day hospital to be treated considering the plurality of human beings.
