Pharmacotherapy follow-up as an innovation in community pharmacies / El seguimiento farmacoterapéutico como innovación en las farmacias comunitarias de Badajoz (Espa a)Keywords: Diffusion of innovations , Pharmacists , Community pharmacy services Abstract: Objective: to apply the Rogers’ diffusion of innovation model to the implementation of pharmacotherapy follow-up in community pharmacies at Badajoz (Spain). Methods: A telephonic survey to 120 randomly chosen pharmacy owners from Badajoz was done. A questionnaire and an algorithm that allow to objectively assign each pharmacists to an stage in the diffusion of innovation model were used. Results: Badajoz pharmacy owners scatter into different the model stages as follows: lower than knowledge27,9%; knowledge 9,6%; persuasion 32,7%; adopting decision 20,2%; implementation 6,7%; y confirmation 2,9%. Conclusions: Near 30% of Badajoz pharmacy owners do not know pharmacotherapy follow-up yet. After their opinions, pharmacotherapy follow-up can be considered as implemented in 10% of Badajoz Pharmacies.
