Abstract:

The Dader Method used for pharmacotherapeutic follow-up has been a suitable course of action to detect and to solve problems concerned with medication. It is easily fitted to local conditions of rural communities. The objective of this study was to evaluate the appropriateness of the Dader Method in a rural community of Mexico. The pharmaceutic service was offered to 300 children from Santa Maria Acuexcomac, of which, only 102 volunteers accepted to participate. A survey revealed 62 cases of parasitism caused by Entamoeba histolytic, Hymenolepis nana and/or Giardia lamblia. The doctor prescribed Quinfamida for amibiasis, albendazol for hymenolepiasis and giardiasis, or both medicines for amibiasis with hymenolepiasis and/or giardiasis. 96,9 % of pharmacotherapeutic follow-up -treated patients showed pharmacological adhesion on average at the end of the medication programmme, and 76 % of them did not presented parasitism after a second coproparasitoscopic analysis. In a second stage of the study we administered metronidazol to treat amibiasis and/or giardiasis, and prazicuantel to hymenolepiasis. 81,8 % of pharmacotherapeutic follow-up -treated patient showed adhesion. At the end of the study none of the PF-treated patients presented any parasitism.
