En la literatura argentina del siglo XX, los poetas de la generación del '40 miraron a su alrededor con una mirada neo-romántica algunos, clásica otros. Así, sus visiones de lo urbano están te idas de nostalgia por paisajes que se van perdiendo, o por idearios de ciudades que poco tienen que ver con el rápido crecimiento que contemplan en su entorno. Este artículo explora textos de Juan Rodolfo Wilcock, poeta del '40, para advertir hasta qué punto sus itinerarios, concepciones del tiempo y del espacio adquieren hoy nuevas resonancias que superan tanto la a oranza romántica como las reminiscencias clásicas. En cambio, leídos hoy, estos poemas nos hablan de ciudades que hace décadas están creciendo en múltiples sentidos, y de campos que se alejan cada vez más. Los espacios pre-vistos por el autor en un contexto moderno requieren de una lectura reinterpretativa desde la post-modernidad. Argentine poets of the 1940's contemplated their context from either a neo-romantic or a classical perspective. Thus, their visions of urban space are marked with a nostalgia for lost landscapes or images of cities that do not grow at such a fast pace as the real ones. This article explores poems by Juan Rodolfo Wilcock, one of the major poets in this Generation, trying to find out how their itineraries, ideas of time and of space have acquired new meanings, beyond the original romantic nostalgia or classical reminiscence. In our day, these poems speak to us of cities that have been growing uncontrollably for decades, and of a countryside that is further and further away. The spaces this poet envisioned in the modern period should be revisited in a post-modern context that re-signifies them.
