REMOVAL OF CHROMIUM(VI) AND CADMIUM FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION USING ORANGE PEEL AS A CHEAP SORBENTKeywords: Drinking water , heavy metals , removal , orange peel , adsorption , Langmuir , Freundlich isotherms Abstract: Heavy metals in drinking water are ones of the most important environmental problems in many countries. Up to now many different methods have been used to remove these heavy metals from drinking water. One method is using of cheep substrates for adsorption of these heavy metals from drinking water. In this study adsorption of chromium and cadmium on orange peel, in different concentrations investigated and Effective parameters on adsorption optimized. A pH=4, substate weight of 0.2g and 50mL of sample volume determined to be the working conditions. The results of adsorption described by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, shows that adsorbent capacity and adsorption energy for chromium is more than cadmium.
