ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY: NIGERIANS HOW FAR?

This paper focuses the relationship between the citizens’ actions and responsibility to the environment and the effect on the environment. With some prevalent environmental problems in Nigeria examined as it pertains to citizens’ indiscipline and recommendations on how Nigeria can achieve a healthy and pollution free environment. Examples are the review of existing laws and legislations governing the citizens’ societal behaviour. To reflect the present challenge of environmental responsibility and strengthening of relevant institutions to educate and enforce these laws were made.
