A Rela o Entre o Desmatamento e o Crescimento das Culturas de Gr os no Município de Sinop-MT: Uma análise para o período de 1984 a 2009

The article aims to analyze comparatively the evolution of major crops in the city of Sinop-MT with the indicators of the evolution of deforestation in the period 1984 to 2009. We used a descriptive analysis/ evolution through time series on population growth and development from the process of territorial occupation, rates of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon, to the State of Mato Grosso and the city of Sinop-MT. A series of production of major crops, especially rice crops, soybeans and corn, and use of statistical methods/econometrics to correlate the influence of the rate of deforestation in the municipality during the period 1984 to 2009. It was observed that the rice had a strong correlation at the beginning of the colonization process, moderate growth for soybeans and corn during the 1990s, these cultures substitute for rice, and a strong positive correlation between years 2000 to 2009 for soybeans and corn, and for that cereal in smaller scale, and a low correlation to the rice, and thus reverse the beginning of the process of economic opening to this agricultural municipality.
