Lacan repudió esa antigua noción tanto en sus resonancias bíblicas como epistémicas. Sin embargo, desde su perspectiva, ampliada por el pase, la curiosa naturaleza del síntoma viene en rescate de aquella noción. Definible como conocimiento de sí moralmente desgarrado, el síntoma resiste a las opciones del Otro y del saber, rechaza la elección a la que denuncia como forzada o innecesaria, y se afirma en la escisión hasta terminar… con el análisis. En tant que connaissance de soi moralement déchiré, le sympt me résiste aux choix proposés par l’Autre et par le savoir, rejette le choix qu’il dénonce comme choix forcé ou pas nécessaire, et s’affirme dans la scission jusqu’à finir… avec l’analyse.
