Um estudo sobre a consciência política de jovens universitários

We have observed over the last few years, the participation of academics in political activities is limited. Knowing that political participation in institutions of higher education is responsible to a large extent, the development of citizenship and the inclusion of students in public life, this gap has led us to attempt to better understand the behavior of these students. The preservation and strengthening of democratic institutions of a people are directly related to the concept of citizenship developed by the company. In this paper, we contextualize the Brazilian higher education since its inception in the nineteenth century to its development today. Our theoretical framework refers to research on the concept of political consciousness, their training and forms of manifestation. Our goal is to better understand the behavior of college students with regard to their political participation and we work with the concept of political consciousness and its dimensions developed by Sandoval. We constructed a survey instrument that was applied to 301 students in institutions of higher education located in the Paraíba Valley. In the results we seek relations between the behaviors manifested by students and the various constituent dimensions of political consciousness. The results showed students very supportive, concerned about the common good and ethical, but refractory to participation in collective activities or policies. This trend was observed not to participate in various dimensions and repeatedly surveyed.
