This article seeks to emphasize a moment of division with theacclaimed and prestigious documentary tradition of Eduardo Coutinho in the context of thecontemporary Brazilian documentary. In 2009, Gabriel Mascaro′s Um lugar ao sol andMarcelo Pedroso′s Pacific showed a new way to understand the roles of documentary andfilmmaker. This essay compares one of the latest works of Coutinho, Jogo de cena (2007),with the quoted movies above in order to analyze the different points of view that supportthese films.
