The Place of Play in Six-Year-Olds’ Daily Life and Mothers’ Play PerceptionKeywords: Play , Mother’s play perception , Six years olds’ Abstract: The purpose of this research is to determine the place of play in six-year-olds’ daily life who are attending to a kindergarten and their mothers’ perception regarding play. Based on this aim, sample was composed of mothers who have six-year-old children attending to a kindergarten affiliated to Konya Province Ministry of National Education. Qualitative research methods were used in the study. Research data were gathered in face to face manner by asking questions to mothers in a semi-structured interview scale developed by researchers. Mothers were asked open-ended questions addressing place of play in their children’s daily life; who their children’s playmates are; where their children play; how they attach meaning to their children’s play activities and the difficulties they experience in playing with their own children. As a result of research, it is pointed out that children spend most of out of their school time by playing games and watching television, the most playmates are friends and their parents, and, the most play area are lounge and their own rooms at the home. On the other hand, mother’s complains about the game generally tiredness.
