DIAGNOSIS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION OF WATERSHED SOLEDADE – PARAíBA

This work was developed in the municipality of Soledad, olivedo and Barra de Santa Rosa in the Microregi o ofCurimataú eastern semi-arid region of Paraíba State, Brazil. The objective of this work was to make a temporaland spatial analysis of the land degradation process in hydrographic basin of Reservoir Soledade for the period 1990/2005, based on Landsat-5 image digital processing and field data, using SPRING V. 5.3. The results showed that the area presents land degradation levels from the low to very severe, this evidences the necessitythe more discussions about public policies for the sustainable development of the Northeast, adapted to their regional characteristics.
