Occupational appreciation and intergenerational cooperationKeywords: Occupational appreciation , elder employees , edge stereotypes , metaphors , symbolic capital Abstract: This article deals with the exploration of how the occupational appreciation is connected to edge stereotypes in intergenerational collaboration. The focus of interest lies on how elder employees handle knowledge (in form of experience) in interaction with younger associates. We demonstrate our findings with the help of one company, where occupational appreciation is hardly cultivated in the organizational context and behavior. Subsequent to this description, we will analyze the empirical data from the perspective of the research field of stereotypes. In particular we will concentrate on the metaphors used by the interviewed employees. Based on this operation we will formulate a hypothesis, which fields the question, if there is coherence between occupational appreciation and edge stereotypes.
