Cystic and Calcified Brain Tumor Metastasized From Non-Small Cell Carcinoma: A Case Report

Although brain metastases from tumors arising outside the central nervous system are relatively common, the calcification of metastatic brain tumors is very rare. Here, the authors report a rare case of 50-year-old woman with a cystic and calcified brain tumor metastasized from non-small cell carcinoma of lung and review the literature. Calcification with cysts in metastatic brain tumors might be an indicator of a relatively long survival in cases of metastatic tumor if the primary tumor is controlled because a long time is required for the formation of calcium deposits.
