Im Jahre 1941 schrieb der amerikanische Endokrinologe Fuller Albright, in weiser Voraussicht: "Because of the constant tendency of osteoporosis to occur in women after the menopause and the beneficial effect of estrogen therapy on the retention of calcium in this condition, we believe that the postmenopausal state is the most common etiologic factor" [1].
