Pedagogy and Social Sciences: the brazilian debate in three stages Pedagogia e Ciências Sociais: a discuss o brasileira em três tempos

The aim of this work is to analyze the debate about the status of Pedagogy as an area of knowledge, by focusing on the various propositions of defi nition of the fi eld introduced by Brazilian authors in the last decades. First, we examine the notion of education as scientifi c art as introduced by Anísio Teixeira in the 1950s, in the scope of the global project of the Brazilian Center for Educational Researches; second, we analyze the advance of the sciences of education from the decline of the specifi cally pedagogical as a consequence of the penetration of the Critical Theory in the Brazilian educational fi eld, and third, the attempt of redefi ning the pedagogical fi eld and delimiting its object from the 1990s on. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a discuss o sobre o estatuto da Pedagogia como área do conhecimento, focalizando as diversas propostas de defi ni o do campo apresentadas por autores brasileiros nas últimas décadas. Examinaremos inicialmente a no o de educa o como arte científi ca, apresentada por Anísio Teixeira, na década de 1950, no ambito do projeto global do Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais; em seguida, analisaremos o avan o das ciências da educa o a partir do declínio do especifi camente pedagógico, como consequência da penetra o da teoria crítica no campo educacional brasileiro e, por último, a tentativa de redefi ni o do campo pedagógico e delimita o de seu objeto a partir dos anos 1990.
