Convergence, transmedia and cognitive excess in the ocupation of USP

The Occupation of USP coverage in Folha de S. Paulo is a notable sample for a study of convergence and transmedia in journalism. From the production of content for newspaper and website, until the integration of traditional media with social networks (Twitter and Facebook), there is a peculiarity in the way of addressing journalistic content: the uses of social networking by news organizations – in this case, the Folha Communication Group – invokes the idea of collaborative production in contemporary journalism, along with strategies of convergence and transmedia. Through the review of these concepts, we recognize that the production of content through strategic uses of cognitive surplus is an exemple of a new pratice in contemporary journalism.
