Tradición religiosa y juventud evangélica chilena – 1990-2008: "Choque de generaciones"? = Religious tradition and Chilean Evangelical youth – 1990-2008: "conflict of generations"?

As igrejas evangélicas no Chile pertenciam historicamente a uma categoria religiosa marginal e discriminada pela cultura católica dominante. Sentindo-se repudiados pela sociedade, os evangélicos chilenos acabaram por elaborar “a identidade de resistência”, ou seja, o repúdio às normas existentes e “exclus o dos discriminadores pelos discriminados”. No entanto, durante os últimos 20 anos, novas gera es de evangélicos est o desafiando as autoridades e as tradicionais rela es de poder de suas igrejas, elaborando novas formas de participa o civil mudando a “identidade de resistência” de seus pais para a “identidade de projeto”. Historically, the Evangelical churches in Chile belonged to an isolated religious category, discriminated by the dominant catholic culture. Feeling rejected by the society, Chilean Evangelicals elaborated the “identity of resistance”: this is to say, a rejection to the existing norms and the “exclusion of the discriminators by the discriminated”. Nevertheless, in the last 20 years, new generations of believers are challenging the authorities and the traditional relations of power formed in their churches, elaborating new forms of civil involvement and changing the “identity of resistance” of their parents to an “identity of project”.
