The Practical Realities of Implementing Change on a Nationwide Basis: The Bahamas Hotel Training Council: A Case StudyKeywords: Tourism , Economic development , Bahamas Abstract: The Bahamas Hotel Training Council (BHTC) was established to advocate for tourism as a tool of economic development which has relevance to the community of developing nations. The BHTC supports tourism for:i) post-secondary training and developmentii) organizational and departmental effectivenessiii) positive social and cultural interfacing of tourism with the host populationiv) maximising the benefits of toruism to the host population, the tourist and the entrepreneur.This paper was prepared for presentation at the 1980 Conference of Caribbean Studies Associaiton heldi n Cura ao, Netherlands West Indies, May 7-10, 1980.
